Have you had an exercise membership in the past that went on for way too long because you didn’t feel motivated to work-out on your own, felt judged at the gym, didn’t know where to start?
Want to expand your friend group but being an adult is weird and feels difficult to connect with people?
I’ll raise my hand to all of the above! 🙋🏻♀️
Community and support are so important when it comes to setting and reaching your fitness/wellness goals. Speaking of goals, did you know that having a friend or family member working out alongside you can contribute to your success? According to a University of Pittsburgh Medical School long-term study, 95% of people who started a fitness program with a friend or family member completed it. Furthermore, a year later, those who had a partner were about double as likely to have either maintained their practices (and results) or improved upon them. Now THAT’S impressive!
At Eden, we strive to create a close knit yogi community to support each other on and off the mat. All Eden yoga teachers have been through accredited Yoga Teacher Training program. This means the teachers understand the importance of practicing yoga safely through mindfulness of injury, differing ability, and sequencing of asanas or postures.
Outside of sharing a passion for yoga, Eden community members come from all sorts of professional and personal backgrounds. There are teachers, bakers, crafters, medical professionals, licensed social workers: You name it & they are a part of our community. As a bonus of such a diverse community, Eden also hosts free community events like our Salty Pop-Up shop to showcase their talents, hobbies, and businesses or our recently formed Eden Book Club. Learn more about our Book Club here. Our next book selection is Do Your Om Thing: Bending Yoga Tradition to Fit Your Modern Life by Rebecca Pacheco. We also offer yoga classes at The Market at Chenal whenever they are holding a fun event right down the street from us.
All this to say, group yoga at a locally owned business has so many perks. You’re getting quality practice on the mat, and a support network off the mat!
